(MAY 23) UPDATE! Austrian animal rights activists are petioning European governments to have a chimpanzee declared a “person”. One petition has failed, but another is being made to the European Union Court of Human Rights! Read more …
(MAY 20) Britain crossed the “ultimate boundary” yesterday when the British parliament voted to legalize abominations. Scientists can now legally create “true hybrids,” fertilizing animal eggs with human sperm.
The nation who scored its noblest victory sixty-three years ago against the Nazis, voted in its own defeat yesterday against a greater enemy: Satan. And the devil danced.
The British Parliament voted to allow such mixes since there is a shortage of human eggs for research. A shortage that exists, no doubt, because most women find abhorrent the idea of inseminating one of their own eggs with animal sperm.
So British Parliament chose a different route: to allow the reverse and legalize using human sperm to fertilize animal eggs. The base assumption must be that there is no shortage of human sperm, that harvesting sperm doesn’t require invasive surgery like harvesting eggs does, or perhaps the implicit value of the male half of reproduction is worth less protection than that of human female eggs. Who knows?
In any case, Parliament said that these hybrids are for research only and cannot be transferred into the womb of an animal or a woman. Foolish shortsightedness given:
What then Britain?
What then, indeed, when walking upon this earth is the first generation of animal hybrid abominations?
It will happen. If only to satisfy the perverse curiosity of some sick researcher or the noble cause of some poor, misguided animal rights group.
And when it does, old, settled legal issues will have to be dealt with in the new context of hybrid creatures. From a Catholic perspective, ethics were thrown out the window by legalizing the creation of the hybrid itself, so at this point the debate for Britain would be legal, not ethical.
We must remember that much behavior that man is capable of is circumscribed either through God’s law or man’s. Many of these issues have been settled for centuries. For example, technically:
But what if your genome, your very DNA, contains strands from a beast itself, say a monkey? Monkeys engage in all of the behavior above. So what if someone chooses to create a schoolyard of MANKEYS (part-man, part-monkey)? What is immoral or anti-social at that point?
Monkeys urinate in public, so why shouldn’t a mankey? It’s in the mankey’s DNA, he was MEANT to be that way.
If this argument seems familiar, it’s because it is one of the primary arguments of the gay lobby: that no one chooses to be homosexual, it’s in their nature, in their DNA so to speak. Therefore if you ban homosexual activities or homosexual marriage, you are legislating or moralizing against a homosexual person’s nature, something that they can’t change. To legislate against someone’s nature is unethical, so homosexual behavior and marriages should be allowed, or so goes the reasoning.
OK, let’s follow that thinking with the arrival of a hybrid mankey. We’ve already determined a mankey should be able to urinate in public according to the “someone’s nature” argument. What then about forced reproduction upon an unwilling female?
Decision time: Monkeys do that, so why not a mankey, it’s in their nature.
But let’s say the nobler side of a mankey comes out, they can talk, and they articulate that they want to abide by rules of human society and want to marry … a monkey.
Decision time: is the monkey spouse to be invited to the local school’s PTA meeting? Invited to church? Given social insurance benefits?
This all may seem silly and in jest but at some point in the future, silly questions like these will no longer be considered silly and have to be answered.
Less than fifty years ago it would have been considered silly to debate the merits of legalizing the production of offspring between two men or two women, but it’s silly no longer and is written into law in many places.
Here’s another example, what about slavery? A farmer can own a cow, but can he own a mankey? What if the DNA of the mankey is 51% monkey and 49% human? It’s mostly monkey and given that anyone can own a monkey, does the farmer have a valid argument to breed a herd of mankeys and put them to work in a field? Or does a Chinese factory owner have the right to breed a manufacturing plant full of them?
You get the point.
If God considers homosexuality an abomination (Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10) or sleeping with beasts an abomination (Lev. 20:15,16), what possibly can He think of what the British Parliament approved yesterday?
Britain has chosen to blend its children with beasts. If Satan is dancing today, what is God doing?

I don’t believe that the human race is long for this Earth. First abortion by the millions, the “gay agenda” and now this abomination. I don’t see a future.

Merry Ole England and Jolly Ole Englishmen – prepare to meet they doom, for the writing is on the wall for you and your sinful ways.

I am so appalled by this vote. I am a Brit and so utterly ashamed that, as a nation, we can legislate for such an abomination! It is madness.
My fear is that we are heading for a great chastisement for such a breach of God’s Law.
Lord have mercy on us.

I just finished reading an article about how the world is overpopulated and now we are going to mix humans with animals. Amazingly contradictory.
And people wonder why God allows tsunamis, cyclones, earthquakes and such to destroy towns. Take a good look at the evil that existed prior to the calamaties and chastisements.
People want God to bow down to them, as if they were smarter and better and then they complain and cry out for sympathy and fairness when difficulties arise. It doesn’t work that way.

God have mercy on the UK for allowing such a blasphemy to take place.
The terrible recent disaster in China which allows for forced abortion will be nothing to the disasters awaiting Britain for this abomination…Pat, Ireland

I do not believe that God will permit this to go any further. He will destroy what He must to stop this insanity.
8May 20th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
There’s really no need to give this insanity any more of our good time. Spend your time wisely. Go to http://www.oltiv.org and learn what Our Lady of America asked of her children in 1956. You will see that this is directly against what the Blessed Mother warned about.

……’Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God.
On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing’…..
‘The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.’…
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=54&chapter=4&version=
We MUST pray and fast for those who are blinded by pride and greed and arrogance. Our only hope is the power of the Holy Spirit to open the eyes of those in Satan’s web of deceit and evil. Pray and fast and ask God’s mercy on us all. May God forgive them and lead us out of this obscene darkness that is covering our world.

Feel the earth shaking anyone ?
Let us fasten our seatbelts, it’s going
to be a bumpy ride !
Lord, have mercy on us all….
God bless us, everyone !

God, will indeed not stand idol forever at the mockery of His creation. Abomination is too weak of a word of the description of what Gos would call it.
Stay close to God and His Church’s teachings and we will be secured.
Aloha and God bless

This wonderful gift of science has now become the “enemy of God.” Those of us who “see on a spiritual level” can “see” the damage to human souls and know the sorrow Our Lord must be feeling.
In order to comfort Him let us remind Him constantly of our faithfulness to Him by prayer, fasting and asking His constant forgiveness of those who really “know not what they do.” The reason behind the crucifixion was for sins such as these. Let us stand firm, together in our devotion and appease Our Lord so that He will find some solace in our prayers. By this we can remind Him constantly of our great love for Him.
May we all meet together one day in Him home.
Be not severe in your judgements……Our Lord is still in control. He allows this battle for us to be tested as Catholics and as Christians. Peace, angelfire

There are no words to describe what this type of disgust causes me in my mouth only to think of spewing from the mouth—such horrendous mockery of God…
Harden yourselves with prayer and the reading of the scriptures for we can’t even imagine how God Himself will deal with such evil-doers.
Pray for repentance and ask God to have mercy—Fast, pray incessantly, Eucharistic Adoration, Holy Masses, Confession, Rosaries, and Novena’s especially the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
I see such a fast anger coming from the Father that all will be taken aback- not one will be spared not a single stone will be unturned. Stop wasting time in idle childish behaviors and pleasures of the moment. Your testing is at hand. Behold your Lord and Savior.

What was considered pornography in the 1950’s and how does it compare to now?
Same thing now. This is so much more diabolical, and who know’s what this proverbial ’slippery slope’ takes us in the next xxyears, if we make that far, as a society.

Of all the hairbrained ideas! Parliment members ought to have their heads examined! BEASTIALITY AT ITS BEST/WORST!
They’re asking for trouble!!!

when i was much younger i thought the book of revelation to be so hard to understand and so very horrific. now its easy to see it in its literal meaning. but i now understand just how very much GOD loves his creation and i can only imagine how heart broken he must be to witness man kind bring all the plauges upon themselfs because they turn there backs on truth and run to a lie with open arms.

You guys do know that God is a myth and you all will die and nothing will happen…nothing.
19May 27th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
“You guys do know that God is a myth and you all will die and nothing will happen…nothing.”
So what is the point of living, or living morally? If you cease to exist then there are no consequences. And ceasing to exist sounds better than living in this less than perfect place. How truely depressing your life must be, if you believe that this is it.
20May 27th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
actually I enjoy my life… no regrets and definitely no fear of a higher power… Bash me if you want but I think that bashing scientific progression is stupid and you all are wasting your time!!!
21May 28th, 2008 at 1:32 am
I also find it funny that you guys will delete posts of someone who has a different opinion other than your own. God tells you to love others regardless. And really all I’ve seen from you guys is not keeping an open mind. Judging others based on their beliefs or opinions because it differs from your own. And that is the most hypocritical thing I’ve seen. Kind of sac religious if you ask me. I mean if you do believe God loves everyone, and you want to do God’s work.. then why would you be so hateful to those that don’t have the same belief. Seems a little wishy washy to me. But whatever, to each his own.

Melissa, what are you talking about? Most of the comments are about people’s belief that medical experiments have gone beyond what God intended. I haven’t seen anyone calling to suppress anyone’s arguments.
23May 28th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
I’ve seen a few comments show then disappear. I agree with Melissa I’m surprised my first post hasn’t gone missing… truthfully my faith is in people themselves not a higher power… I’m posting here because i thought it interesting that the writer of this particular column is so one track minded and not open to the possibilities of the human race… we’ve come a long way since the day of medieval times and i honestly believe if not for a large group of people who stand against progression we as a race would be so much further… question rooted from curiosity; Does your bible say God is against populating other planets or moons?

the beast and the false profit. the book of revelation once scared me, now that it is all coming together ( being revieled ) it is easy to see just how literal it really is.
25August 27th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Galileo and Copernicus were also reviled in their day by short-sighted, ignorant, although well-intentioned, folk. How one can take an argument against stem cell research and turn into a spiel against cloning and homosexuals is just beyond me.

It is funny Melissa to read your comment that others judge teeth, but all through your comment trying to bash others with a judgement of your own (rather a false judgement on your part, for teeth’s comment has been promptly published, and in fact it is the maiden one from teeth as it is pointed out in the following comment! ) Who is bashing whom?! Definitely God loves teeth and you too. There is connection between pointing the right from the wrong and God loving a person. That doesn’t mean that one shouldn’t defend what one feels is right.
Remember how the atom bomb, which is a definite weapon for destruction just began from an innocent experiment? Definitely it was meant only for good. I think Galilio or copernicus were not reviled for inventing something abominable, but for bringing to light a fact of which the world was ignorant about. Any facts brought to light in that age faced repercussions. That happened out of ignorance. Pointing out a fact and creating an abomination are two different things. May God bless us all and help us distinguish the right from the wrong. God bless you.

this is incredibly insane. do you really believe this? do you believe anything in print? why are you so stupid? find out what people are really saying and what’s really going on. This is not happening. Someone is trying to manipulate you and you are very uneducated and that’s the truth, unfortunately, but you deserve better. this is not happening. It’s ridiculous. Don’t believe it. Where is the proof? It’s just someone preying on your fears like a wolf preys on a baby deer. Please educate yourself. Go to the library. Ben Franklin created the American Library system so everyone could have access to education. Please educate yourself.
And love yourself. You are worth it.

you know yes i believe it is cruelty especially since 90% of clones attempts dont make it and 30% of clones who do get diseases. but cloning may help by figuring out diseases and treating people. which it will help so called ‘gods ‘ animals and life by helping endangered animals etc…
