Reconcile with God, then Prepare for the World
It’s no secret that there is a lot going on around the world, enough to cause fear in even the most stout-hearted if they’re listening. This should produce concern in any of of us, but not fear. We have the victory and joy of the risen Christ to keep things in perspective. When all is said and done, God will not judge us by what the world did to us, but by what we did for others in the world. Even in a disaster, the light of Christ should shine within you as you help others in a crisis.

How hard can getting the right emergency candle be? Well, candles have grown into their own specialties, especially emergency candles.
And candles, like water or salt, can be blessed by a priest for sacramental purposes. Nothing like having a blessed candle lighting your way in an emergency!
For frugal readers who just want to head to a Walmart and buy a pack of candles, I’d suggest continuing to read on, because I found out that the cheapest candles are not necessarily the best value.

Long-term food storage is a lot easier than it used to be, ranging from do-it-yourself all the way to buying freeze-dried foods. Food packing materials as well as ready-made products have really matured since the Y2K scare 9 years ago. It’s pretty much an industry in itself today. And long-term food supplies are an important part of readiness in these troubled times.

In the event of an emergency, do you have a 72-hour or Bug-out Kit? Gotta Rosary for on the run?

A 72-hour kit is a bag, bucket, or box of everything you will need to survive 72-hours as you flee a natural disaster, terrorist event, or civil unrest. For example, food, water, medicines, etc.
The idea is that you should be able to get where you’re evacuating to within three-days, or that civil authorities (police, national guard, etc.) will have brought the unrest under control.

Sacramentals, while not directly conveying sanctifying grace like the sacraments themselves such as the Eucharist, do help us in our walk towards Christ. They “prepare us to receive grace and dispose us to cooperate with it.” With a sincere devotion to Christ, they also help keep and/or drive away bad spirits.

Father Clement Machado – Are you a consumer of priests?

Say the word missionary and many people think of a devoted priest hacking his way through a jungle to spread the Word of God.
Now meet Father Clement Machado—a modern missionary hacking his way through secular 21st century America, clouded Catholic thinking and even the work of the devil.
If you’re fortunate enough to hear him tell how the Blessed Virgin Mary visited him at the age of 11, you’ll learn that Mary showed him a vision of Hell and then of Heaven. He knew then that he was going to be a priest.
Father Machado—missionary, exorcist and a surprisingly humble and humorous priest—spoke before a crowd of around 450 on Sunday, Aug. 9th on the Roman Catholic priesthood and Pope Benedict’s declaration of the Year for Priests. He emphasized the year was for priests, not of priests. A year to pray for and celebrate the gift that God has given us through His priests.
